Retail Therapy Blog is a place to share your stories and read about the best and the worst of what happens in shops.
Or if you’ve been a bad customer and think what you did was justifiable, let us know.
I have been working in retail for over 3 years (not that long, really). My first job was in a tiny shop that sold replica antiques and vintage goods, my second job was as a Christmas Temp in a video game store, and I’m currently working in a relatively small department store on the Crafts section.
Although I hate retail with a passion, my job now has more of a purpose because of this blog. Not only do I go to earn money, I go to do research too :). And if I didn’t work in retail, I wouldn’t have learnt a lot of what I know today.
I remain anonymous for obvious reasons, although I would like to say I hold no hard feelings towards the store where I work or the people I work with. My grievances are against some of the customers I have the misfortune of serving and the unfair treatment of retail workers I hear or read about by other companies. But giving credit where credit’s due, I also serve some really lovely people as well.
